The Lancaster test is an orthoptic examination used to analyze ocular alignment disorders (strabismus) in adults. It is used to analyze muscular and nerve dysfunctions in one or both eyes, and to refine the orthoptic assessment. The examination takes place in a seated position, wearing glasses with a red lens on the right eye and a green lens on the left. You will be asked to stare at a board located 1 meter away, and to point a laser at the light spot shown by the orthoptist. Eight light points testing the 8 gaze positions will be shown to you. At the end of the examination, the 8 points are connected to "draw" your eye deviation.
